On the 29-30 June 2020, an introduction to the 16th International Conference of the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG) is organised in Grenoble.
As an introduction to the conference that will be held in Torino form the 1st to the 4th of July, two half-day sessions dedicated to multi-scale numerical modelling in geotechnical engineering and geomechanics are organised by the Laboratory 3SR in Grenoble.
On the 29th of June in the afternoon, the participants will have the opportunity to visit the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility and learn the basic concepts of full-field measurement.
On the 30th in the morning, a lecture session is organised at the Laboratory 3SR to introduce multiscale modelling and discuss various methods such as DEM, FEMxFEM and FEMxDEM. Selected engineering and material science applications will be presented. A technical visit of the facilities, including the x-ray tomograph, will also be proposed after the conference.
After lunch, a bus will take all the participants to Torino for the official beginning of the IACMAG conference.
